Narcissists do not always show the full extent of their pathology in the early stages of a relationship. They can seem pleasant, easy-going, supportive, and receptive…at least for a while. But as you remain with that person, certain trends begin to emerge, leaving you to wonder about the viability of the relationship.
Narcissists are known for not having good self-awareness or for not taking responsibility for their flaws, so they will deny their problems. Knowing this, Dr. Les Carter explains 4 categories of behavior that reveal the breadth of the covert narcissist’s dysfunction. They will gaslight you when you call them out, but as you learn to trust your interpretations, you will be less inclined to be pulled in by their manipulations.
